good morning Patriot Nation this is Miss barlock with the counseling department here at Veterans Memorial High School we're going to go ahead and talk about blowing today I want you to go ahead and watch this quick video when you try but you don't succeed when you can watch but not watch when you feel shoot stuck ensconced what do you do when you move girls chewing could be worse Jihad Dixie Boeing can take on many forms as you saw on the video but today we're going to talk about what looks like what it means according to state law so we're going to start with David's law Senate Bill 179 and bullying is looked at as an imbalance of power it's also looked at as if it is severe persistent pervasive or it can be a one single significant as that happens it can be in the form of written verbal electronic physical and also cyberbullying which were going to talk a lot more about later it can also happen on or off campus are off school property in school vehicles vehicles can also have the effect of harming damaging feeling like there is reasonable harm it can also interfere with the students education or their right to learn in a classroom or in a school setting so these are some things that I need you to think about when you think about because that's how it's listed as Texas lock so when I talked about bullying I mentioned cyberbullying and so this is a new piece that was added into our lives that we have specifically David's law and so Cyberbully includes pay attention computer telephone camera social media text messages or any other electronic activity also just some things to keep in mind of course the location a bullying right we talked about it can happen on campus School Vehicles now in private Vehicles as well but also bullying now includes information delivered to school property so says that like I said it can occur and private vehicles used to transport students to or from a school activity and those are some things you need to think about students are also grounds for daep placement or expulsion from school and that includes the release or the threat to release intimate visual material of students that are 18 or younger the next one is encouraging a student to commit or attempt to commit suicide and the other is inciting or encouraging violence against a student through group bullying also know there can be legal consequences as well Police Department can be contacted at harassment or restraining orders can be enacted so after watching that video and hearing more about Texas law my question to you is this where do you stand are your words and actions helpful are they positive are they encouraging or they negative mean hurtful I don't know only you can answer that but please know that your counselors here on campus and you've got amazing teachers and administrators who are here for you and I want you to know if you see something you need to say something you need to involve an adult so that way we can help in the situation and make sure that no student a Veteran Memorial High School is bullied in a couple minutes you're going to go ahead and you're going to get a form from your teacher and basically it's a blue form and it is an anti-bullying contract and so that is for you to sign and basically when you sign it you're saying I will not engage in bullying behavior and I hope it's not something that you just sign and forget about but I have hoping something that you sign and you mean it that you hold others accountable around you and that would be the Patriot Nation that we're supposed to be thanks for listening guys have a great day
